Winter League Closing - Jester - 14-Mar-2013

Congrats to Steve and Josh for winning tier two, to IGYSRH for getting second, and my friends from La Maison for taking third.

Big ups to Packer who played awsome last night and helped us claw our way into a third place finish in tier 1.

Good luck to M&M feat. Slim Shady and Family B4 Foos, next week they battle it out for that $600 first place finish.

Jesse, you are quite right about Dan -- last night overall he was the best player in your team.

Just the same, the pivotal game that ended up deciding the outcome later on was the first of the "doubles" with you and Omar against me and Vern. A long game and the dominating factor was your 5-bar preventing Vern from passing to his 3-bar -- I'm not sure whether he managed any 3-bar shot at all. It ended 5-4 for your team, had it gone the other way so would have the match and the round (second game was taken by Carm and Vern 5-2 or so).

Dan was best and you won it -- and Omar was instrumental in directing the adjustments to your defense that stopped my squeezed goals series.

There you go Jesse, not so surprisingly it was your whole team that won.

Couldn't have said it better myself Gid, its always fun playing against you guys. Im sure we will run into you guys a number of times in the Spring League.

For all of you new players that enjoyed this season, try your best to spread the word of OFA and recruit some of your friends, growing this game from the grassroots level like that is the most effective way to promote.

RE: Winter League Closing - PACKER - 15-Mar-2013

Hey thanks guys Smile it was a combination of "a need (lol) for that $50", and us having just played in Albany the weekend before. I can't stress enough how tournament experience improves our game. It's the easiest experience to get too because all you have to do is show up. None of us really like meticulously practicing a shot or pass. "We'd rather play the game, the game we go out and die for.. we talking 'bout practice!? ..man." - good old Iverson lol... but ya unlike practice, showing up and playing your game with an open mind willing to absorb the new tricks you'll see, is all you have to do to gain tournament experience. We've convinced some ridiculously skilled players to hit up this OFA tournament so this is an opportunity to bring anyone and everyone you can think of.
