There are no refs at OFA - Jester - 21-Aug-2013 We each are responsible for knowing the rules in order to properly play the game. Unfortunately not everyone sees the rules the same way, so to ensure no one else has their night ruined by people who don't know the rules, I am going to print a copy of a ITSF rule book for us to have on hand at OFA at all times. RE: There are no refs at OFA - Doubledipper - 22-Aug-2013 The problem is not that we don't have the rules, it's that people want to interpret the rules in their favour. There was a time I knew every rule. At my first major tourney I was certified by. Adrian Zamora who gave the course. Three Ottawa players registered to attend (50$) the training, I was the only one who passed. Some rules have changed and I haven't kept up with all of them but 80-90 % still apply. The problem I have now is making a call on the spot I'm just not fast enough. Officiating requires non-bias,confidence and the respect of the players Without these factors you'll get railroaded by mob mentality. |
