Great to see so many Toronto and Quebec players, as well as Ottawa players we didn't know we had (Khalid)! Kudos to the TDs and many thanks to all foosball friends who came out. Looking forward to next time. Taha RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - rustyspurs - 01-Dec-2014 Had lots of fun. Great to see all the Montreal and Toronto players. Enjoyed the competition even when I lost. I think Jesse and Chris and Casti and Packer run the best small events I have seen. They do a great job. Thankyou guys for doing this so well. RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - subculture - 01-Dec-2014 Thanks to Chris, Jesse and all the ottawa team. You guys are the hosts with the mosts!!! RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - Jester - 01-Dec-2014 Attached is the payouts breakdown. Hope everyone had a good time, hope to see everyone from out of town soon. Thanks for making the trip to Ottawa. RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - Jester - 03-Dec-2014 Tournament feedback/criticism is welcome guys, if you don't feel comfortable posting just message me. My opinion: Highs - high level of competition in every event - cheap fees - fair payouts ($2,000) - ending at a decent time Saturday and Sunday - playing well and finishing my events above or at my expectations Lows - not enough tables, too many people idle for too long - not being able to end as early as I would have liked - people taking too long to get to their matches, tables not labeled very well (my own fault) - bar opening at 11, needs to be earlier (will be fixed in April tournament) - I still don't like the table set up, too close for tournaments (will be fixed in April tournament) - technology could be more accessible with more screens - table maintenance was a pain, even our newest table has bent 2 bars, but its life, we dont have the luxury of brand new tables for every tournament RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - jpguywatchout - 03-Dec-2014 Highs: - Sounds like it was fun and glad to hear competition level was good! Lows: - I couldn't go. (My absence undoubtedly be SilentSam's high. I call you a jerk in advance, Dan.) I would say that we could have finished earlier than what happen. The main problem it's not number of tables, it's the time lost before all the players start to play after they got called. Parts of the work comes from the TD, but most of it needs to come from the players. We all need to be "pressed" to start the game. We need to change our habits of taking it easy when we're up. I would say that it's ok to go take a leak, but don't go outside for a cigarette or eat all your order who just arrive... AQBB has worked hard in the last couple of years to improve this problem and I think it's way better than it was before. We manage to finish early most of the time and out of towner can leave at a reasonable hour. The players had worked hard on their side and it pays. Most of the tables was great, even with a bent 2bar. The only problem i had was with the table beside the garlando, it was slippery as hell... What to say about the Ottawa crew except that we had a great time again and you're doing an excellent job! I've seen a lot of progression from some Ottawa players and I think it means that the knowledge circulate well between your players and it's fun to see. Keep it up! The competition was great, but i think we most limit the number of guys coming from Toronto... I kept losing to them all weekend long... Joking aside, i did play well this weekend except in expert, but the competition was fierce. A big thanks to all my partners, I had a blast playing with you guys. Can't wait to see you all again! Simon RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - Pixel - 04-Dec-2014 First of all - thanks for running the tournament, guys! And Jesse, special kudos to you - I can appreciate how difficult it is to be both TD and to end up in the finals of events - it's tough to balance both responsibilities! Great to see everyone, as always. Miss the Ottawa crowd. Tournament feedback: The good - - Good competition and sportsmanship all around. - Good level and depth of payout. - (Mostly) quality tables - as has been mentioned, the bent 2 bars were unfortunate, but hard to avoid most of the time. The less good - - My biggest piece of criticism here is probably the late finish. And I personally believe the root cause of that was the super singles event. While I understand the draw and the fun from that event, in the future, I would suggest that if you're to run a "super" event of any kind, it should be doubles. That singles event ate into a LOT of table time that could have been used to play other events, and caused many conflicts. Making it doubles should at least cut those issues in half. - Need more wings. RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - snakefactory - 11-Dec-2014 Hey, thanks for all the feedback, it's really useful and we'll take it all into consideration for the next tourney. However, about the super singles, wouldn't doubles cause more conflicts? It would be done slightly faster, but doubles matches tend to last longer because of the tightness of the defense. Anyway, what would people like to see implemented in April? Double Elim? Match Play? Thanks again for coming everyone. Just half the matches though. RE: 2014 Winter Foos Bash [Results] - garbaggio - 11-Dec-2014 I think we should still have super singles, single elimination, but played on the garlando. That way it can be played throughout the weekend whenever people are free for a game, so it won't cause conflicts, and it won't tie up Tornado tables either. Taha |
