that feel when you can't 2 bar long - Brian Lee - 03-Nov-2016 was told to develop that 2 bar push long so I went home to do my homework that's as far as my 2 bar goes fam [Image: http://i.imgur.com/oZFzpXRh.jpg] a real table for comparison: [Image: http://i.imgur.com/ZTIEnCL.png] that feel when you can't 2 bar long - mwhiting - 03-Nov-2016 Lol. That's what you get for $30 bro!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: that feel when you can't 2 bar long - deliverance - 04-Nov-2016 I don't think that's going to be a limiting factor for you developing a 2-bar series. The number of people who can hit a full deadbar pull/push from the back (not a push, sure, but easier to execute) can globally be counted on one hand. What you want to work on is lateral execution, accuracy, and hiding your intent right up until the moment you are ready to execute the shot/pass. Dan K had uploaded a great image showing the general pass/shot options from the back. It's since been taken down from the original host, but I managed to find a really crappy cashed version, I'll try to get around to re-making a higher quality one again and uploading it. In the meantime, read this post: http://forums.ottawafoos.com/showthread.php?tid=1139 and Dan had referenced this image: [Image: http://i.imgur.com/xHAzYZX.jpg] Since it might be hard to read, the blue lines are passes, the red lines are shots. They read as follows: 1) Straight lane pass (forward must come off the wall to catch the pass) 2) 2nd man spray/square passes to the 3 bar (forward stays on the wall, you just send it to their man, they absorb and catch it) 3) Reverse long push back to wall pass (option). This is a great pass, it gets the defenders moving 4) Middle spray 5) Long spray 6) Long square 7) Long pullkick or stall push (zone breaker option) Work on all these and focus on speed and accuracy. I'd do the opposite of that diagram if I wanted to push, right? (03-Nov-2016, 09:43 PM)mwhiting Wrote: Lol. That's what you get for $30 bro!!! still the best $30 I've spent this year RE: that feel when you can't 2 bar long - deliverance - 05-Nov-2016 Yes, exactly that. More the reason why someone may have suggested to you is to learn a long push, is that you want to switch up your shot selection. To my point on hiding intent, one thing that others are very likely catching you doing are things like: - Always waiting the exact same amount of time before shooting. So if you always play with the ball, juggle it, then on a 3-count you shoot, I don't have to waste any effort until right before your shot and I know it's coming. - Always going for the same shot (ok, you tried 1-2 times in a row, if I see that you can't score on the far side of the goal relative to where the ball is setup, then myself and my defender can stack the other side of the net and shut out the goalie from the game. Not that goalies are meant to score much, but the forward will also get a piece of a lot more of your shots). Work on a few different shot options from the same setup from the back, make sure it's always from a stationary setup, and during games think about waiting for a set+random period of time before executing the shot. You have 15 seconds after all to work with to read what your opponents are doing and what kind of defensive zone they are setting up against you. I'll try and get a few of those ready for next week. Who are you irl? RE: that feel when you can't 2 bar long - deliverance - 05-Nov-2016 It's in my signature...haven't been out this league due to my work travel schedule i am mostly in Toronto these days. Also that's awesome when i was loading those images they weren't available so i had to get a google cached version. X-linking them to imgur in case they're taken down again: [Image: http://i.imgur.com/WcL4J1Q.jpg] [Image: http://i.imgur.com/3aeMXl2.jpg] RE: that feel when you can't 2 bar long - SilentSam - 09-Nov-2016 Since I'm the one who talked to you Brian about the long push, now's as good a time as any to elaborate. Casti hit the nail on the head when it comes to predictability. Take a look at the 2 images he posted (which I originally posted back in the day). Reverse them for the push. In the first image, shots #2 and #4 are the most common. In the second image, shots #2, #3 and #4 are very common. What's similar to all of these shots? They can all be blocked by the inside man on the 3 bar. What I suggested you practice are shots #5 and #6 in the first image, and #5 and #6 in the second. If you can hit these options, people will no longer be able to race your shot with the inside man (well, outside man in the case of the push) of the 3 bar since the bumper hits the wall. Now they have to shuffle, and this is what opens the inside shots. The kick shots (#7 in both images) are very useful as well, just don't become predictable with them. e.g: Is your take off slower? Do you set the ball differently when shooting them, etc. Casti gave some great pointers about making sure your intent is masked... And your table sucks. Look at that deadbar! It's half the net... RE: that feel when you can't 2 bar long - Brian Lee - 03-Dec-2016 Hey guys, thanks for all the tips. If I want to pass up to my partner with the push, where is the ideal place for his 3 bar? Is it at the most right dude in the pics? RE: that feel when you can't 2 bar long - deliverance - 03-Dec-2016 Those 2 hi-res photos I pasted, reverse the position, so he should be with the bumper on the near wall. Your options are pass to the man on the wall, spray to the middle guy, or square to the middle guy (you mostly have a pretty good square from the back, so that will work to the middle man) OR, you can tic-tac and then brush down to the wall to get the opponent slightly moving. In all those cases your forward just stays on the wall with soft hands to absorb the pass so it doesn't bounce backward away from him. |
