Montreal Tornado Monthly Tournaments
#1
Vern, I could not find where Pixel post on the November 1st tournament was, so I started a new thread.

7th Tourney Announcement

Yes, I'm free, available, eager, and ready. The location is the same, let's go.

Gid,
I am abot 60/40 on this right now. Have small details to work out in order to get my Saturday free. At this time I am thinking it is a go as I am sure I can do some minor rearranging.
Would be glad to partner up.
We will work out the details on Wednesday or Friday. I really enjoyed last time and the meal was great.
PS - Mario's post is right below under tourneys
See you Wed.

regarding time, Vern wants to leave the St. Laurent mall around 9:30, so make it 9:15-9:20

regarding place, you gave me a specific address, are you saying you'll be waiting for me at the corner?

Merv and Mario -- check your personal messages for details. To summarize though: I'm first picking up Mario (8:50), then Liudas (~9:15), then meet you at the St. Laurent mall as pre-set (~9:30), drop Mario there for Merv (~~but I have not heard from Merv, he had talked to Mario), and from there you please give a ride to Montreal to me and Liudas as pre-arranged.

Could not access the Tornado Montreal site, but got confirmation by e-mail from Julien that registration tomorrow is in fact at 12:00-13:00.

C'est tout, c’est tout, au revoir!

Tournament was pretty good - a lot more people than they expected though. There was about 35 people there...and only 3 tables. Needless to say, things ran a bit slowly.

Doubles
Liudas ended up pairing up with Vicky and doing fairly well for his first tournament...I know they won at least one match, and possibly 2.

Vern and Gid - again, not certain, but I know they won at least one match, and possibly two.

Merv and I - lost our first match, won our second, and lost the third. I believe "slightly disappointing" is the term here - personally, I feel a good chunk of this was to blame on some mental errors by me.

No idea who ended up winning - Julien and Doum placed third.

Singles
Not too sure how the others fared here...I know that Merv took 5th.

I had to play Liudas in the first round, which wasn't really a cool way to start - but he put up a great match!

I ended up placing 3rd, losing to Julien (1st) and JC (2nd).

A very well-run tournament by Regis, considering the resources he had available to him...

In doubles we won first match and then lost 2 in a row (though we could have one the third match)

As for Singles, as Mario said I had to play him in first round, and put up a fight only in a first game, second one was a massacre. And the I had to play Regis and lost to him 1:2 first two games finishing 5:4, and decisive one ending 3:5 (He scored 3 garbage goals) so that was not that bad and clearly he was stronger than me...

But in general it was cool to play guys i had no knowledge about Smile and again thx for 5-bar tips, they were really helping me out.
