Tier 1 League Sheet

(26-Mar-2013, 11:52 AM)jpguywatchout Wrote: geez i don't know about that Jester... i don't like the idea of awarding coveted points for mediocrity. I think the 3rd game should just prevent the winning team from getting all 3 points and getting 2 points instead. I mean, going from 3 points to 2 points -- isn't that like the losing team gaining a point anyway?

p.s. for Deliverance, the tie-breaker doubles would mimic the first set.

+1

I mean previously we gave 3 points for winning the first two games. The fix was to give 3 points for winning all 3, but still give 2 more points than your opponent if you won overall but conceded a game.

Doubles should count for +2 over your opponent at least. It's doubles afterall.

The current front runner based on Taha, JP, everyone's suggestion is this sheet here modified by Jesse on page 2: http://forums.ottawafoos.com/attachment.php?aid=64

Recap of the sheet:
* Still 14 point sheet
* Everyone plays Singles & Specialty games
* roto doubles is goalie's delight only
* rollerball is now a roto event
* Matchups for the doubles I believe are based on calculation that Dan K suggested and everyone agreed to

The current vote is 6-2, I assume this has been polled by some since then. Before I prepare an announcement and send out emails to a broader audience who may not be reading the board, any requests or recommendations?

I will be sending out the email in the morning on Wednesday, the 27th for promoting this upcoming Spring league.

Hold on a sec, I thought at least a few of us (JP included) voted for keeping 2 Roto Doubles matches... essentially just replace 3-man?

Everyone relax. The only change to the sheet is replacing the 3-man and playing all three games of the doubles.

I think everyone was generally interested in the changes in this thread. It would be a shame to not implement more of them and just switch out one game.

Okay, there are 67 replies to this thread. Can someone sumarize what are all the changes that have been suggested.

Right now this is what I was going to implement. This is not final.

1) Split up the two sets of doubles and put one earlier in the night.
2) Make doubles play all three games. 3point for three wins, 2 points for two wins. no points for 1 or zero wins.
3) Replace the hated 3-man with Tag Team singles.

Everything else would stay the same.

I am working on clarifying the league rules that will be printed on the back of the sheets. Some of those rules will be:
1) The a fore mentioned doubles point change.
2) Match winners will be decided by points, then tie break 2/3 double. Goals will no longer decide a winner.
3) Clarification on Roller ball.
4) Clarification on subs during league - any sub okay.
5) Clarification on subs during playoffs - subs need to be equivalent and approved.
6) Team forfeiture due to absence and how points are allocated.
7) Team schedule - particular the last week, where possible the top two team will face each other in the last week to prevent other teams influencing the final outcome.

this is what I like

oither than that, clarifications/stating of rules

that's it

no splitting of doubles, no other games

just as the picture say

the 5-bar wars hurts me, but that is personal

just the solid core, the games, the basics

nothing contrived

no player base engineering

what Gid posted is what is suggested. The vote suggests everyone bought into this format. There's little nit pick stuff, but don't worry about that. You can use that as inspiration, and it's already removed the 3-man. Just clarify the rules or tweak it to your liking but keep the spirit of it.

Points made by people:

SilentSam -- Keep 2 roto doubles. The only time you sometimes get to play forward is during this. Now that everyone can play a game of singles and you can choose FSO as your specialty game, there should be no issue, besides, he's not playing in the spring league.

JP -- keeping some kind of events like rollerball to help gain points (eluding to when he was sandbagging with T2/3 and was picking up points from these type of games).

Chris , Under doubles on the sheet 2 games win =3pts, 3game win =2 pts , 0 game win = 0pts
Is this correct. Doesnt look right to me. Probably a typo

yeah it's just a typ-o... hasn't updated the wording within the sheet yet.

p.s. I really do enjoy playing 2 roto doubles games.... but i understand the decision.

Roto-2 ball kinda makes up for the loss...
