I had an awesome time at this tourney. I'll either post a recap or tell you guys about it when I see ya.

Short story: 3rd in Am singles (out of 200 players), getting knocked out of the winner's by an Austrian promaster (who won AM singles, AM doubles, second in semi-pro singles, second in semi-pro doubles), and knocked out of the loser's by a Malaysian pro.

5/6 in AM doubles, after getting knocked out of the winner's by the same Austrian Promaster.

Kane and Mario played hard all weekend, and deserve a cheer for putting everything they had into it. Came 7/8 in Open Doubles.

Matt and Darryl (Calgarians) placed 4th in Pro Doubles - a huge accomplishment, especially since Matt is a Semi-Pro.

Team Event - We beat Malaysia handily in the first round, and unfortunately drew the US in the second round. We only won one match - Matt and I against Tom Yore and Bob Diaz, with Matt carrying my rookie ass all the way through.

Don't know how two pro-masters on other tables can be ranked a rookie/amateur. That is BS. Especially if they were in the top 8 seed for Open Doubles. I mean c'mon

Yes, some might say it's slightly ridiculous. Slightly.

Here's the method:
They used ITSF rankings/points to seed the open events.
And used arbitrary points to rank international first-time players.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is how you can have international promasters seeding top 10 in Open events and winning Rookie events.
