I was thinking that Specialty Singles in league could host a variety of different singles events. Singles always seems to be the prominent choice, then goalie wars (a good equalizer), followed distantly by forward shootout.
However, I think this would be a good chance to throw in singles fastball, singles rollerball, singles 2-ball rollerball, 5-bar wars, singles goalie's delight, no-snake singles, or any other suggestions to liven things up. I'd choose one of these if I won toss. Thoughts?

I'm down for Horse... but we'd need very defined rules... No same shot twice, and does a pull snake constitute the same shot as a push snake? etc... Otherwise I'd shoot a long square pull snake against you over and over, hahahah...
Also, there's a game called 'Break The Ice'. I'm not sure if it's feasible in league because it would cost extra dollars... The rules are:
- My first goal using a shot doesn't count as a point, but breaks the ice for that shot
- Any subsequent time I shoot that shot and score, I count a point
- Once my opponent scores that shot, no further goals are allowed using that shot.
- You can have multiple shots open at once.
- Both you and your opponent can have ice broken at the same time (obviously with different shots)
Variations include that if I broke the ice with a shot, my opponent can't score until he closes that shot down, and then breaks another shot. This one can be particularly frustrating if a player has multiple shots broken open.

let's not get too complicated... i'm already watching Tier 3 players consistently play goalie wars incorrectly... don't need too much more of that.
singles rollerball (and/or 2-ball rollerball) would be easy since the newbies already play a version on the game sheet, so no problems with rules there.
5-bar wars (points for passing) need to be clarified on the current sheet...

For tier 3 newbies, I never even called stopped ball passes on them? The only rule I called on newbies was intentional spinning. But if I play you, I'll call break the ice on your pnose.

It's shocking that you took that direction.
