Typo - in the prize explanation you mention Open Singles Pro but then describe Open Doubles prizes.
Scheduling Finals at 7:00 on Sunday? Seriously? Most people are going to be traveling home and playing the finals that late may reduce the number of people watching. Just saying.
FYI - New dates don't work for me. Wedding. I blame you guys for changing the dates.

You think 7 PM is LATE for a final? You've been to IFP tournaments, right?

I have been to IFP events and this is not one of them. You are running a regional event not a Major. Just my observation that if I were to attend and make it to the finals (you are all lucky that I'm not going) that I wouldn't be on the road home till 9 and in my bed till 1:00am
Just an observation.
You might want to factor that the majority of your player base will be using Sunday as a travel day home. Since I am not traveling, this makes me part of the peanut gallery and my opinion moot.

I have to agree with Chris on this one! Also no one will stay to watch it, not having a crowd for a final really sucks! Just sayin'

Also, take into account who will be in the finals. You could be playing three finals back to back to back if young Packer from Ottawa performs as we all expect, or Mario or Kane for that matter.

Aye. We'll move the finals earlier as the tourney progresses/allows. But given that most of the finals I've seen/played in have been after midnight, I don't think this should be too much cause for concern.

With all due respect Mario, you can' t compare this tournament with an IFP event. There will be only 2 major events running, one team event and an open mixed which would be very surprising to have more than 10 teams playing that event. Finals of OS and OD should play early sunday at most! Plus im speaking on behalf of quebec players but most of us work on monday and its a 9h drive from toronto to quebec city!
Once again no hard feelings, just trying to help and give my opinion, I understand this is you're first big one, so I know its not easy to organize.

I don't quite understand what the issue is here. We've been to numerous Ottawa tournaments from Toronto that have finished late into Sunday night, sometimes around midnight. We soldiered onwards. Just as I've attended Montreal tournaments that have finished quite late as well.
In any case, as I said, we'll try to get 'er done ASAP. It's not like we'll intentionally make the finals wait around for 5 hours.

Sounds good.
Do you have a lot of interest from the US players?

We're expecting a group from Michigan, Buffalo, Maryland, and maybe a few from Boston. And, given that it's a fireball tournament, maybe Tony.

Hey Chris, you may not have been around for some of them (must have been under Frank's watch), but I'm pretty sure there were about 4-5 consecutive Ottawa tournaments (2 per year) where I finished my last match after 1am Sunday night.. the first few times we drove home, afterwards we wised up and booked hotels until Monday, and took the day off from work.
I also think it was just last year (or year before) where we asked Mario I and Mario A to split the pot and finish the OS finals in Toronto (still waiting by the way guys) because the Ottawa bar was closing up for the night... very late Sunday.
In fact, I don't think I've EVER been to any tournament ANYWHERE that had the last Doubles and Singles event as early as 7pm on the last night! Even DYPs go later than this!
As Mario said, whenever we have the opportunity to move events up, we'll gladly do so. And we'll be monitoring players closely to make sure there are no unnecessary delays between matches. But I think that players from out-of-town who expect to go deep in the events shouldn't expect to be leaving that early... and why would you want to anyways (yeah yeah work I know, but if possible take Monday off and enjoy your weekend in Toronto - did we mention that TEAMPLAY NEVER CLOSES? Yes, you can literally foos ALL NIGHT, ALL DAY!).

Oh, I am not denying that some of out tournaments went late into the night. Just from the poster it looked like you were running a one day event (starting Singles and Doubles both on Saturday) that it looked strange to have the finals so late on Sunday.
That was all.
