Since it doesn't look good for an organized summer league we will be forced to activate emergency plan B. This will replace the summer league.

Summer Points Race
This summer OFA will be running our first points race. There will be weekly prizes as well as a grand prize at the end. Here is how it works.

Dates: July 3 through August 21 (8 weeks) Points Race. August 28 will be a grand event.
Time: Starts at 8:00.
Format: Weekly DYP.
Points: Winner = #teams + 1, 2nd = #teams -1, 3rd = #teams -2 ... until 0. Points are individual.
Cost: $5/week/Player - Free for women
Weekly prize: $20 for winners
Grand prizes: Remainder of entry fees go to the top three places.

Final DRAFT - Instead of buying you all food and beer, we'll throw the money into a DRAFT Your Partner. The player with the lowest points selects first and so on. There will be a formula to prevent usurpers from coming in for only the DRAFT and picking first. Also there might be a sliding scale to enter the event based on the number of weeks you played.

This is the first time running this so I promiss not to get my feathers ruffled if you point out flaws in my proposal.

$20 for weekly winners means $10 each, right? And in the odd case one given week the male turnout turned out to be particularly poor then amount would be adjusted downward, right?

Since anybody might miss one or more weeks, may I suggest some wise arithmetic:

- Any final Grand Prize money for given individual adjusted downward by 12.5% x number of missed weeks, surplus can go back to Grand Prize and prorated to winners - or re-directed as for the best suggestions.

- For purpose of the draft sequence only, any accumulated points for given individual adjusted upward by sum of (missed week #teams + 1) for each missed week.
This might be too harsh in legitimate and honest cases - a more reasonable alternative would require at least some weekly presence, then average points can be used to impute points for each missing week prior to accumulation.

The grand prize is the grand prize. It won't get adjusted based on weeks of attendance, as not attending limits your ability to win. I don't want to unnecessarily punish someone for missing one week.

what about missing 4 weeks? 6? what about just showing up only once?

In those cases, I find it very hard to believe they would win the point race. As for the end of season DRAFT, there would be a sliding scale entry.

looks like I'm misunderstanding something here... is the grand prize awarded for the points race or for the "end of season DRAFT" as of the "August 28 will be a grand event" thing?

Both.

The weekly fees collected ($30 last night) will go towards a grand prize for the points race. So after 8 weeks of DYPs, the results could look like this:

DanK 28 points

In this case the warrior, ninja and assassin would recieve the 1st, 2nd, and third place prizes. Think of this as the league winner prize, except we are paying out the first three places.

On the ninth and last night, we will have one big DRAFT Your Partner (think of this as the playoffs). Instead of paying for food and beer, we'll put up cash for the event. It is this event that there will be a sliding scale entry/draft. This will prevent opportunist Taha from showing up and usurping the draft prize money.

Generally how will this be determined? If you show up x amount of times, then your entry will be 5 * (8 - x) or some similar formula? Or will there be point spots for those who show up more regularly?

Something like but not limited to:
1) you need to have played at least once.
2) if you played 50% or more then there is no penalty.
3) $5 extra charge for ever week under four. 3=$10 total entry into draft, 2=$15 total 1=$20
