[split] Practicing techniques - Trash Talking

You didn't have to burst Paul's bubble. He's still new and thought he was quickly on his way to becoming a super star goalie. Now he's going to realize that he wasn't good and that Omar just can't score.

well I dunno about him not being able to score, he did quite well against some other guys; he's definately an amazing player any way you slice it. the 5 bars on you guys makes me sick.

with that said, after our victory last night it'll take alot more than that to burst my epically proportioned bubble.

I definately got you to shoot a middle pull which I was able to stop; whether you were trying your best or not is (and should remain) questionable Big Grin

Paul,

Your defence was good, although you are right about me shutting myself down......I do get stubborn from time to time especially when I don't warm up at all.....but your defence is effective. The one thing Mario and I both noticed is you favour one side....being the pull side. When I shot snake on you I must of hit the post at least a half dozen times....thats me getting stubborn and trying to time the hole......but your push side was open 90% of the time which you may have noticed when Mario shot snake on you. Its unfortunate that the 100% of the push side attempts I made were too far out.

Its a very common mistake to favor the pull side on snake D and there's an answer to the madness.......practice defending someone who can shoot push 100% of the time so you can gauge how far out you have to go. You only covered the 3/4 hole on push side and never beyond that....

See you guys this Friday....

Ha Ha Jon,

Funny thing is I can take anyone of you flamers to meat nut and I don't even practice.....imagine that eh......

Like I've said before, if I practiced consistently or at least had a table at home....not one player in Ottawa would stand a chance......not even Taha when his garbage is 100%

But for the sake of argument, I'll start practicing twice a week and I guarantee you that in 3 weeks I'll spank you 3 games straight....and I'll put money on it.....

damn I leave it that far open eh? I will definately make a conscious effort to work on that; I wasn't trying to bait the push that's for sure, I was just not getting far enough over I guess!

I gotta learn to see my own holes.

Ahhh the classic foosball line, "If I practiced I would smash all of you!" Thing is I don't practice either! I'm the only one who plays on my table and I just don't have the patience to practice for 3 hours a day. I only hack around the table for 1/2 hour or so a few times a week.

As for the money games, I'm in! I'm sure in 3 weeks you'll develop a crazy 3-bar that can skunk all of us! I mean you've only had 10 years of play on Tornado!

And what if it's best out of 5?
Or what is the point asking for double or nothing after you already lost two... matches????

Lets try to keep the Foosball Wisdom section limited to Foosball Wisdom. Trash talking should be organized elsewhere. Go pee in someone else cup.

I'm confused. What is all this "I could beat all you guys if I actually practiced" shit? Or "You're so lucky I don't practice"? When did practicing become stupid, or something lesser people do? Personally, I practice probably about an hour a day. Jon, any time you're messing around on your table, I hate to tell you, but that's practicing - you're improving or maintaining your game in one way or another. If I could play the piano better without practicing than someone who practices a lot, does this make me a better person? No, it makes me more talented, and the other person more dedicated - both are good qualities.

I'm not sure when practicing became a shameful thing, but I think it's about time it stops being dropped around as an excuse. If someone has talent, great! If someone needs to practice more to win, that's also great! You should be driven by competition, to give your opponent the best game that you can. If you lose, you lost. You lost because of you, and that's the end of the story, and you move on to the next game.

Either improve your game through table time, or stop whining about how good you could be if you did - I'm tired of hearing that shit. To use an old favourite axiom - Put up, or shut up.

Ya I guess you could consider hacking around practice, definitely better than nothing! I have a lot of respect for those who put in the hours of practice consistantly. It's not easy when most of the time you're on your own. For me I have trouble staying focused for a long period of time on the table! For those of you who don't know, ProMasters(at one point or another) practiced 8-10 hours a day to get where they are! I mean no wonder they can execute passes and shots without thinking!

But I definitely wasn't knocking practice, I just know Omar won't be doing it! lol There's talk of getting together more regularly for foos, I'll be down for that! Playing with others is something I can do for hours!

Now the only reason I don't practice is because 1. I work 10,000 hours a week and 2. I don't have a table anymore.....when I did practice I made sure to at least put one solid hour a day.....the improvements mentally and technically speaking were mind blowing....

My reference to practicing is that since I am new to shooting the snake, I never really practiced it nor was I ever really told the mechanics of it.....its all been trial and error which leads me to my next point...if I were just to practice the snake and mechanically tune it up I would kick everyone's ass.......
