I don't really think they are interested, I have messaged Biggie, Julien and Vicky and gotten no responses back. I think we should just move forward with a Toronto Ottawa set up. They are always welcome to come if they want. How about we get 3-4 representatives from each city to begin talks about the 2013 set up. I will message Mario about it.

If anyone in Ottawa would like to be part of the committee post in here. Being part of the committee will require you to be available for a few Skype conference calls leading up to and throughout the 2013 year. It would also be favourable if you can attend both the Ottawa and Toronto events on a regular basis.

Ideas so far:
Single Saturday event (Open Doubles, Open Singles)
Goalie Wars
Forward Shoot Out
City vs City event (5-7 man teams)

Per Chris' post in the other thread:

As a region we can hold anywhere from 1 to four "Regional Events" a year. These will be our one day tournament.

Chris

If there's 1-4 events as a region, I would want to see straight up open singles / doubles BYP.

Steve Zeoke expressed concern over these tournaments focusing on points. To be honest I could care less about points I just figured it would be easy to calculate some form of Ontario points if we were to have a few events like this. My real reason for wanting to get this rolling is to have more competition between our two cities. We are only 3-4 hours away from each other and rarely get to practice/play against one another. When Dan and I have gone down to the states for tournaments this year I would say that at least half of our tough matches came against Canadian players, most of whom live like between 2-4 hours away from us (Montreal + Toronto). Were great players in Canada, and I think getting different groups of players together will allow more improvement in our games. I just think getting 30-50 people between our two cities (which is achievable) for a $2000 tournament 3-4 times a year would be great for Ontario foos.

But that's the whole point of 'national points series'. Am I missing something here?

The problem is the national points series doesn't really establish much right now because its not a legitimate fully functioning system.

I don't even know what points list, everyone seems to have a different one in different parts of the country. The whole TSAC set up is ideal if everyone in the country follows it, but most don't (maybe im wrong with this claim but I know in Ottawa we haven't followed it to a tee). Toronto is the only place that I know of that each month hosts an Open Singles and Doubles, which is a requirement of being a TSAC club.

That's why I prefer playing Americans. Competition on our side is too tough. That's my main concern about trying to even crack the top 40 lol. I try to duck the Ottawa and Quebec crowd by going to Michigan every year, and I've done ok as a result Smile

Getting schooled by Sean, Nhu, Marios I and A, Kane, Olavo and underated amatures and experts regularly, means I look for the easier tournaments (and always get results lol).
