so a team can battle for 16 weeks, climb the ever-so-tough mountain of success against the hardest teams in tier 1.... all for $240 (if they win league)... so basically, after 16 weeks, the top prize is winning your $80 entry fee back.

and then, in the playoffs, the real playing begins? who's names go on the trophy?

pls. note that i'm not disagreeing with this payout scheme... honestly.... am just wondering about the rationale at first glance. promise!

The winners of league during the regular season are the ones who get their names put on the trophy, playoffs is strictly for cash. At least that's the way it's been for a while!

Your observations are correct. The rational for making the league winners payout only the league fees is because it is not possible for all teams to win it. If we were to use a handicap or a salary cap system, then you could make the payouts higher.

We then split the remaining funds for the playoffs and party.

League winners name goes on the trophy.

If you would like us to do something different, now would be the time for suggestions.

fine, it's fine as it is

back in the days the league winners only got shirts and one bye, and just about all funds went for the playoffs.

now it's a good balance

putting the names on a trophy is good enough consolation.
