WTF? why do you still need 3 goalies then? They make no sense anymore if you have ramps.

The wingers would come off. The picture was taken just to show what the ramps would look like.

Actually I'm totally for this change! too many random goals from wing goalies really bug me... Plus it makes no sense to have 13 players on a football field (this is table SOCCER).

Eh, Americans. Always think that they can re-invent the bicycle by adding adding another two worthless peewee wheels...

IMHO : Who gives a flying f***? I think getting rid of the two men is great:
Less slop.
New players will stop being afraid of / trashing the table because of the "two stupid extra men".

The "cons":
We're changing the AMERICAN TABLE. OH NOES. All of a sudden everyone is so frickin patriotic? Just because it was made in North America, that doesn't make it a brilliant idea. If all chairs were made in North America with a giant dildo poking out of the middle of the seat, and a giant change were proposed to remove said dildo, would we fight that, too?
You can't use the men to setup the ball in the back. Wow. Get some lateral ball control, or learn to use the back wall. You've all played on Warrior. It's not that freaking difficult.
You can't tic-tac using the goalie rod anymore. Blow me.

IMO the ramps on warrior table wasn't even an adjustment for me. my rear shot setup is purely lateral though Big Grin

Cons:

You lose the 3 to 5 passing series, which is effective for quick passes in singles and doubles sometimes.

You lose the ability to defend in singles with one hand on the 5 and one hand on the 3, which is the most effective way if you want the right hand on the 5.

You can't stop a ball from coming out of your zone by jamming the 3rd man against the corner, trapping the ball, and it will be hard to kick this habit. Many times in the Warrior tournament I slammed my 1-bar against the wall only to realize that there was no man there to trap the ball.

Pros:

There are 11 men.. just like soccer. Whopeee.

Same:

Balls coming off the back well are less predictable and more erratic, leading to as many slop goals as went in off the extra men. So ramps increase off-the-ramp slop while eliminating the off-the-men slop, so that part is equivalent.

Overall I'd say it's a bad decision.

True. It does take away that element of surprise. A 2-5 can still be used.

Use one hand for both the goalie and the 2-bar, and your right hand on the 5. Equally as effective, if not more-so.

This is true, though it really should NOT take that long to adapt to.

Hello, straw-man argument. Care to address the real pros of this change? Tongue

I fail to see how balls of the back wall are "less predictable" than they are now. The ramps are less than a 10 degree incline - and they're not marred with potholes and random bumps.

There's too much lateral space on the 2-bar to enable you to get to get to every position in a reasonable time.

You piss off North Americans, your established base, in order to appease European soccer purists. I wonder how many people would take Tornado up because of this change versus how many players already playing Tornado would stop because of it. Do you think it's a net positive?

They are less predictable because the ball comes in at different speeds and because of backspin. I saw this with the Warrior Table. Because the ball was so grippy and backspins so much, shots that hit the ramp/back wall at different speeds would rebound and hit the back of the men on the 2-bar because of angle changes and go in (especially in singles), or sometimes would jump up and land RIGHT ON the 3-bar, which is just ridiculous.
