2013 North East Foosball Points Race [Syracuse Prep]
#1
[Written by Sean Riley on the Foosboard]

Player bases from all over are welcome to participate and compete for great prizes in anticipation of The Northeast Table Soccer Open Championships hosted in Syracuse, New York on November 1st - 3rd !

This weekly points race allows any existing player base to participate under the following format and rules.

Each player base needs to have a designated local points race coordinator as the primary contact for the race. We hope the format will be used as a tool to promote interest in your local areas and help generate buzz for the Championships. Some great VIP prizes have been allotted to help the cause.

1) The Race will take place over 7 weeks from Monday, September 2nd through Sunday, October 20th. Your player base / local points race coordinator determines which night of the week your event is held. We need to know by Sunday night, September 1st, which groups want to participate, which night of the week the event will be held, and who the coordinator will be.

2) Player bases must follow a set points format, used by all groups, and results must be submitted every week by Sunday night. Results can be emailed or posted here. Weekly results will be maintained and published in a consolidated format here and in the dedicated Facebook group.

3) Each participating player base needs to have average weekly attendance of 8 players through the 7 week points race to ultimately qualify for the prizes.

4) Four prizes are being provided for each participating player base who qualify. The top 4 point finishers of each race will all be entered into a drawing to be conducted by the local points race coordinator and video recorded to be posted here.

5) Prizes for each player base are One (1) VIP All Inclusive Player Pass to include all tournament entry fees, hotel accommodations and all food & beverages. Three (3) Registration Fees valued at $50 each. Equal chance at the VIP Player Pass for the top 4 point finishers of each race!!

6) All players earn 2 points for attending each week. Inclusive ranks for this points race are Amateur, Expert, Pro, Elite+. All players ranked Amateur or under compete as the lowest rank for the race. Weekly results determine points awarded based on the following;

Amateur -- 1st - 5 points / 2nd - 4 points / 3rd - 3 points

Expert -- 1st - 4 points / 2nd - 3 points / 3rd - 2 points

Pro -- 1st - 3 points / 2nd - 2 points / 3rd - 1 points

Elite+ -- 1st - 2 points / 2nd - 1 point

7) Each player base will be provided a formatted spread sheet for their respective location to be used to keep track and submit points weekly. Point break downs will be listed.

Seems pretty simple, we could easily do this. Doesn't require any additional money and we already meet at least once or twice a week to play so one of those nights would qualify as our weekly night (probably Fri but could be Wed if we have DYP's until Winter League starts).

What we get out of it: 3 free registrations at the tournament, 1 VIP all inclusive hotel, food, drink, tournament package to give away. This is the additional motivation our city needs to turn our Syracuse turnout from half a dozen to a full dozen or more. Id do all the paperwork associated with this so no extra work on any of your parts.

What do you think?

This is the only reason I'd be against it. We really don't want to change our league format. If people were down for doing this on Fridays I'd be OK with that.

When they say set format they mean it just has to be the same every week, we don't have to change anything were currently doing. It just means either a singles or doubles dyp, which we already do, weekly.

I'm in!

Wonder if singles wouldn't make more sense than having us getting points based on a random player draw on Friday's, but definitely agree that it would get Friday #'s up, and whatever we go with I'll play!
