Thanks to rookiemaster Jason Wong, we actually have a place to play Tornado foosball in Toronto now, that doesn't involve needing to know the secret handshake to enter Olavo/Hugo's foos palace.
The place is TeamPlay, on Old Kennedy Road north of Steeles (Markham), just beside the bowling alley Club 300.
It's a small place, but has at least 8 Fabi tables, some computer terminals, and ONE well-kept Tornado coin-op.
The place doesn't look like much, but has friendly, Tornado playing staff, cheap non-alcoholic drinks ($1 can pop), and way better eye candy than Olavo's place (though half of it is jail-bait imo). The caliber of competition is medium to high-rookie, but growing fast, as these guys seem to be playing a LOT since they got the table 3-4 months ago. TeamPlay never seems to close, I've left that place after 4am, with players still going strong.

Tourney? We have them like clockwork in TO, at least once every 4 years.... wait, I think we're about due....
I think TeamPlay is considering getting a 2nd Tornado... then we could at least have DYPs...

Hey Sean
Todd here - we spoke and met a while back. You gave me the secret handshake to enter Olavo's place if you recall. I've taken over your spot as the FABI rep for Ontario (in spite of my Bonzini leanings). We've actually changed the position to a FABI/Bonzini rep and I'd appreciate any input/advice you might have to represent the players.
It's great to finally see a "Toronto forum" post on this site. So do you make it out to this new place often? Let me know if you do as I would like to make it out to try my hand(s) out once again on a Tornado. On the flip side - if you're into some Bonzini then let me know.

It appears that Teamplay will be receiving two brand-new T-3000's from Syracuse next month...

Cool! Kudos to whoever is making that happen.
And... I haven't heard which gloriously won-in-Michigan Warrior table is making it to Olavo's. Jay? Iannuzzi? Did you guys have any problems bringing them back over the border? Or have you ordered them new instead from California? Nhu and I were able to bring his 2 back without paying any duties - unless you count the 'nudge nudge wink wink' Nhu gave the customs guy.

That mental image is KILLING me
So... Teamplay? Is that the same as Club 300?
ps. Sean! Dont' forget about Friday! Unless you're afraid to get beaten by a girl (like last time).

Yep, Teamplay is in the same classy building as Club 300. But foosers can't be choosers, so we support them wholeheartedly.
'beaten by a girl' - ouch! Though I must admit, I do have a history of losing to girls at tournaments in doubles events. Maybe we need to start a thread here titled, "Strategies to beat women?". Or maybe not...
See you tomorrow Red!

Wow...nudge nudge wink wink? Good to see the Vietnamese sex trade is alive and well in Canada...
Strategies to beat women - Kel, I do believe this is a great opening for that ever so politically correct joke that you told me.

Did you know that there are over 50,000 battered women in the United States?
And to think...you've been eating them plain this whole time!

Hey Pixel
Any word on whether TeamPlay received their new tables?
I'd like to make it there to play but due to my minimal Tornado experience, I was hoping there would be more wiggle room for table time.
thanks for any info you have

Jason brought back a new table, so there will now be 2 tables @ TeamPlay.
