Greater Toronto Area Player ratings
#1
As we start having more local BYP's, seeded DYPs and other events, it's becoming more important to have a local ranking system. Here's my 1st crack at the list for GTA players (Tornado only of course). Please don't take offense as this is only my opinion and I'm open to suggestions (but friendly trash-talking can be fun too).

Updated list to reflect recent performances and feedback:

Pro-master:
- Kane G, Mario A, Mario I

Pro:
- Ken A, Olavo T, Nhu Tran, Sean L

Expert:
- Tyson F, Hugo T, Mike T, Jay W, Kenny C, Alan K, Ben La, Garrett F, Jay K, Steve Z, Rob N, Anthony D, Sheldon Y, Calvin C, Bucky/Sohail N

Amateur:
- Ian, Alex K, Michael Y, Mao K, Gonzalo C, Jack B, Carlos Choi, Adrienne Lee, Wayne W, Mohammed K, Jennifer C, Jennifer N

Beginner:
- Bryan, Jorge, Angie, others + all the fabi players

Pro-master:
- Kane G, Mario A

Pro:
- Ken A, Olavo T, Nhu Tran, Mario I, Sean L, Tyson

Semi-Pro:
- Hugo T, Mike T, Jay W, Kenny C, Alan ?, Ben La, Garrett, Jay K, Steve Z, Rob N

Amateur:
- Jack B, Sheldon, Ian, Alex K, Calvin + couple names I can't remember at moment

Rookie:
- Ray, Paddy, Jacky, Angie, others + all the fabi players

For BYP's, we can determine a 'goals needed to win' system based on these ratings, and for DYP's if we want to handicap it, we'd ensure that rookies do not draw each other, and PM's and Pro's do not draw each other.

I don't know most of those from middle of the middle down, but for those from there up, for whatever it's worth, I concur

I would say drop Tyson to SP - objectively speaking, he could not beat most of those players on a consistent basis.

This is good - it'll be a good base to use for NetFoos starting points.

couple updates:

- we've got a pretty regular weekly DYP happening recently, usually Friday's with the odd rescheduling to Saturday depending on holidays etc...

- you can track our GTA event results and player profiles at http://www.netfoos.com/account/1215/account_home.html

- we're not updating this forum too much as it seems most of the players either are emailing each other, or are looking at Teamplay's page on Facebook... if you haven't already, you should add Teamplay to your FB page

- seen 'Social Networking'? I wish someone in the foosball community had come up with and executed this idea...

Happy New Years my fine foosing friends Smile

What should the base points/points ranges be for any of these rankings? Once I enter those I can use an admin module in NetFoos to update the points with all of the results we've got in there so far with ELO.

Hmmnn, not sure. Whatever you think makes sense, let's just throw it in there and see what happens.

This has become a topic secondary to the national points race, our upcoming tournament, and a potential new location for new players. We'll get to it eventually...

At a quick glance, not too much would have changed. Steady improvements across the board, but probably just a few guys that should be considered for a bump... Alan, maybe Tyson... Garrett's been playing well lately but needs to keep doing it.... our new monthly OD/OS events should help make clear just how accurate the rankings are...
