League Playoffs
#1
Hello League Members:

We are two weeks away from the league playoffs and I would like to present the playoff format. I am going to slightly modify it from previous leagues since the team balance is different.

Barring any objections this is what I am proposing:

1) Two tiers of six. Prizes for 1, 2, and 3 place in each tier. Teams will be placed in the two tiers and ranked based on league wins.
2) Week 1:
Round 1:
Team 3 vs 6 play a half sheet.
Team 4 vs 5 play a half sheet.
Round 2:
Winner of 3 vs. 6 plays team 2 half sheet.
Winner of 4 vs. 5 plays team 1 half sheet.
3) Week 2:
Winners of round 2 play full sheet to determine first and second place.
Losers of round 2 play full sheet to determine third place.
4) Party and HOF induction will still take place on Week 1.

Advantages - more foos, finals decided by a full sheet.
Disadvantages - second week of playoffs when only one advertized. This might be a problem for some.

Any subs for the playoffs must be approved. I'm am actively trying to fill the missing spots on teams for the playoffs with appropriate players.

This is not set in stone. If there is a significant objection to the second week of playoffs, then this plan will be reconsidered.

The implicit part is Team 1 & 2 play full sheet to determine who ends up being "1 & 2" during week 1?

no, I don't imply anything.

Team one and 2 have byes for round 1. but play in round 2.

Can you (or Packer) post the latest standings? That may shed more light on who would play who...

Lol DanK priceless. "I just hope we can win a game" roflrofl

So teams 1 and 2 don't need to show up Wed until later because they have a bye?
To Shadi's question, I don't know the full stats on standings, but im pretty sure the top 6 teams consist of: Family Before Foos, Parking Lot Activities, M&M ft. Slim Shadi, Pulled Snake Sandwich, Jar Hack and Cackle, and the final team I think is Steve and Josh or IGYSRH. The rest will play in the second group, this includes: Mary's team, Europe, Kamakazie, the La Maison team, Vanh/Melissa/Julian, and either Steve and Josh or IGYSRH.

That is up to you, but you might miss out on the beer and food.

Chris you should do it like NFL and NHL playoffs. It should not be predetermined that the winner of 4vs5 plays team 1 and the winner of 3vs6 plays team 2, because in order for that to work properly you assume teams 3 and 4 will win, and it works out nicely, but let say for instance team 6 upsets team 3, they shouldn't get to play team 2, they should have to play team 1 and the winner of 4vs5 plays team 2. This just makes it so its always based on seeding.

BOOOOOOO--- I hate that about the NHL. Let's punish team lowest ranked team. Once you have drawn a chart, you can't redraw it after every round.

As opposed to what? Punishing a team that did better than them, doesn't make sense. Why should team 1 have to play team 3, haven't they earned the privilage to play team 6?

NHL precedent doesn't dictate that a different way of drawing should be deemed as punishment.

Team 1 has earned the right to play the winner of 3 vs 6 ... this gives 3 an advantage as the highest team who doesn't yet have a bye, so isn't guaranteed a top 4 finish (and this is double elimination too, for 1 to stay 4th they'd have to go 0-2). It's standard for pre-drawn formats.

This is single elimination.
