Winter League Schedule - Rotation 1

Hello All:

We have 9 teams in the league. This means we will have two tiers, of 4 and 5. The tier with 5 teams will have two teams move after the rotation and the tier with only 4 will have one team move.

Initial tiers are all follows:
Tier 1:
1 Out of Retirement: Taha, Chris T., Dan
2 Going for Gold: Jesse, Jon, Khalid
3 Holy Goalies: JP, Frank and Kat.
4 Pro Killers: Vern, Carm, Sam

Tier 2:
5 Mario Brothers: Mario, Marc and Julian
6 IGYSRH: Jason, Kevin, Mary
7 Playoff Bound: Roland, Abir, Eric
8 Young Guns: Brian, Chirine, Ali?
9 New Town Drunks: Mike N., Brett, ?

The tier with 5 teams will have to play a 3-man sheet. We will be balancing the 3-man sheet as best as possible. Here is the first three weeks. With only 5 teams in a tier, unfortunately in one rotation one team plays a three man sheet every week. There is nothing I can do to fix this. I will make sure that the same team doesn't get picked for this every time.

Taha vs. Frank
Jesse vs. Vern
IGYSRH vs. Brian
Mario vs. Roland
Mike vs. Rob

Week 2
Taha vs. Vern
Jesse vs. Frank
Mario vs. IGYSRH
Option 1 - Roland vs. Brian vs Mike
Option 2 - Roland vs. Mike
Option 2 - Brian vs. Rob

Week 3
Taha vs. Jesse
Frank vs. Vern
Mario vs. Brian
IGYSRH vs. Roland vs. Mike

Perhaps Mike vs IGYSRH rather than Mario?

Mario's team gets 3 1-on-1 nights and Mike's team plays the three team sheet three times.

I think it better to Mario vs. IGYSRH vs. Mike. This way everyone plays everyone and Mario gets their three man sheet.

Be prepared Taha, your team gets all three men sheets next rotation. Your punishment for being on the league directors team (and leading by example).

Okay. I have fixed the rotation with the best that is possible.

For anyone curious of the analysis of the options it goes like this. With five teams performing a three week rotation, you have several possible outcomes. Two end up being the most favourable. One which emphasizes balance in the three man sheet or the other in every team facing every team.

The first option would have one team play three man sheet three times, two teams twice and two teams once. ( this is the option I picked). But it means two teams don't face each other before the tiers rotate.

The other option would be for two teams to always play the three man sheet. In this option, the other three teams only play the three man sheet once and everyone plays each other. This option is more preferable if you have two brand new teams that would benefit from similar strength competition every week. I've done this in the past and those teams preferred losing to better teams than being stuck every week in a three man sheet.

That is how we got here. If some sees a better solution I'm always open.

It will be tiers one problem next rotation with my team playing three weeks in a row (just so you I'm not playing favourites).
