RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - 5000 Years Old Man - 23-Sep-2013

so, this was just a one time event last Saturday in St. Catharines or will they be doing it again in other places?

(not that I plan to participate)

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - Senthuran - 23-Sep-2013

there are plenty of events in ontario schools but in ottawa its this friday, they will have reel tables there too and its in front of the carleton uni centre 10-5 i think

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - 5barwarrior - 24-Sep-2013

We will have to try and recruit there.

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - 5000 Years Old Man - 24-Sep-2013

extend the $50 for October, but with a rider: at least four students attending so: "bring three friends" to make sure

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - rustyspurs - 24-Sep-2013

We must rethink the September student promotion. We have given the money away on the last two or three occasions to the lone claimant. Not right. Must be a better way to give our money away. LOL

Agreed.

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - 5barwarrior - 25-Sep-2013

The turnout is a little disappointing. I would get lots of feedback from the posters but only have one or two show up.

Perhaps refocusing on what works - PS4, XBone tournaments.

I like Gid's suggestion...have a caveat that there must be a minimum of 4 players and if a lone player shows up he/she can still hang out & have fun. (hopefully that would encourage people to bring a friend or two). Maybe for next year..

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - deliverance - 25-Sep-2013

Why don't you keep a running pot, $100 next week if you don't get at least 4 players, then once you get to $150-$200 make it so 6+ people have to show up to claim it. We can get them hooked into participating in the winter league.

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - 5000 Years Old Man - 25-Sep-2013

in principle, not bad idea at all

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - Stavros - 25-Sep-2013

Since our goal is to get them involved more regularly, why not put the money towards free league fees for students, or advertise the first x number of student teams to sign up play free (rather than 1/2 price). Perhaps OFA has tried that b4?

RE: CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - 5000 Years Old Man - 25-Sep-2013

roll money or part of it over to next week, adjust numbers, roll over till numbers met, if not by end of October then....PIZZA AND BEER FOR ALL
pretty well the way some lotteries work
dyp tonight

CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL - mwhiting - 25-Sep-2013

Ok now that's an even better idea Gid!!!

I think cash is more incentive than a cop-out like free league fees. I am saying cop-out because it's a sucker bet, much like in store credit. If you never intended to spend it there, it's a win for OFA. Better is to pay them out cash, especially if it's a rollout where all of a sudden they won $150-200 or something, and they have ambition about joining the league -- especially once they realize that we pay out top 2-3 places of the 2nd tier as well, they can improve enough to win that within 1 year, look what Jesse did in 2 years.
