Yes, exactly that.

More the reason why someone may have suggested to you is to learn a long push, is that you want to switch up your shot selection.

To my point on hiding intent, one thing that others are very likely catching you doing are things like:

- Always waiting the exact same amount of time before shooting. So if you always play with the ball, juggle it, then on a 3-count you shoot, I don't have to waste any effort until right before your shot and I know it's coming.

- Always going for the same shot (ok, you tried 1-2 times in a row, if I see that you can't score on the far side of the goal relative to where the ball is setup, then myself and my defender can stack the other side of the net and shut out the goalie from the game. Not that goalies are meant to score much, but the forward will also get a piece of a lot more of your shots).


Work on a few different shot options from the same setup from the back, make sure it's always from a stationary setup, and during games think about waiting for a set+random period of time before executing the shot. You have 15 seconds after all to work with to read what your opponents are doing and what kind of defensive zone they are setting up against you.
