My highlights:
Playing Tony in OS.
Holy shit, awesome match. I did NOT expect that it would last as long as it did. We went to 5th game, 5-3. It's one thing to see that he's fast on videos...but on the table, in real-time, when you're trying to react...riiiiidiculous. I got lucky and managed to block both his 5 and 3 for a decent percentage. Near the end of the match, he started absolutely bricking my 5, so the only reason I was able to get to that 5th game was by scoring the majority of my goals in the last 2 games from my 2 bar....I'm pretty sure they were all sprays.
4th in OD w/ Audrey!
How does this crazy shit happen? I don't know...I've seen stranger things happen I suppose. Merv passing wall...Gid missing a squeeze shot...but this was rather unprecedented. DEFO passing all credit to Audrey near the late end of this event, especially when we knocked out Santomassimo (Promaster?) and Brian Guiana (Pro) to get to 4th...she BRICKED Santomassimo. Hard. I mean, the guy had like 20 consecutive shots at one point, with no one other than him and Audrey touching the ball. He was a mental train wreck (those were his own words).
Our next match was against Victor Lam and Joe Caraffa, two great NY players. Victor and I owe massive moneys to both our goalies for blocking both of us so well. Pretty sure Joe kept me down to about 30%, while Audrey kept Victor down to about 35% (obv., that 5% made a difference). Victor has an incredibly smoot pull shot, and a great 5-bar. In my mind, this was my worst-played match of all weekend...I could not seem to adjust to Victor's 5-bar D or Joe's snake D. After talking to them about it after, I realized my mistakes, and will learn from them...I'll know for next time. They ended up placing 2nd to Tony and Amedio...and after watching Joe block Tony for a relatively high percentage for the first few games, I didn't feel quite so bad.
