Given that now the race is almost over and there are at least 10 players with a reasonable chance to make it into the top 4, it is my opinion that for the next two Friday DYPs we should relax our good intentions of accommodating all; rather right now we need to tighten up enforcement and rules dealing with the troublesome aspects of late arrivals.
Some have already contributed to these rules, I urge all to put forth more contributions, in agreement or otherwise to the extreme, but only if you can do so right away.
1) Registration is the responsibility of players:
-- Cut-off is 9:00. By 9:01 only those registered will participate in the draw.
-- Pre-registration can still be arranged, however they must be accompanied by reasonable, firm and precise time of arrival, that is to say if you can’t make before 9:30 or you are not sure then you are out, it’s not the end of the world.
-- If the registration or pre-registration does not reach whomever is running the draw then you are out, it’s not the end of the world.
-- Registrations "in absentia" cease to be operative after the stated time of arrival (9:30 PM at the latest) after which they regress to late arrivals status, subject to "odd man" considerations at the discretion of those on site.
2) If the number of registrations is odd then the "odd man" is the last name drawn.
3) If there is no odd man then no late players are added after the draw has started.
4) If there is an odd man then:
-- If one more player shows up before playing starts then whomever that is, that is the partner for the odd man.
-- If playing has started then nobody is added, the partner for the odd man will be one of the players of the first team out, and which of the two is such partner will be determined randomly by coin toss – after all everybody else have in fact been assigned partners randomly just the same.
Too often attempts to accommodating everybody have been producing complications, delays, and grief.
We all have our other commitments, for the two weeks left only those that can make it on time need to show up.
